Looking for a weekend that's filled with live music, mouthwatering food, and a little Southern charm? Nashville, aka Music City, delivers all that and more. During college, flights from New Orleans to Nashville dropped to under $100 round-trip on Southwest and me and my friends couldn't resist. We packed our bags and spent our Labor Day weekend diving into all the fun Nashville has to offer. Here's how we spent two jam-packed days - and how you can too!

The Parthenon & Centennial Park: History Meets Nature

Okay so maybe, I only knew this existed because of that one Percy Jackson scene...

BUT the Parthenon and Centennial Park are a staple in Nashville. A full-scale replica of the Greek temple, it was originally built in 1897. This architectural gem is the perfect place for history buffs and Instagram-lovers. Inside, you'll find a 42-foot statue of Athena, goddess of wisdom (and hopefully no Hydras iykyk).

After exploring the Parthenon, we took a stroll through Centennial Park - it's green oasis that makes you forget you're in the heart of the city. Make sure to get there early to skip the crowds and enjoy the park in peace! Entrance is $10/person for the Parthenon, but strolling Centennial Park is free!

Frothy Monkey: Breakfast Goals

Next stop was Frothy Monkey where we experienced breakfast heaven. With a combination of healthy options like your loaded avocado toast and some not so healthy fluffy pancakes, there are options hear that satisfy the masses. The coffee was amazing and their rosemary honey latte is a must try!

Ryman Auditorium: Where Legends Were Born

No trip to Nashville is complete without visiting Ryman Auditorium, the iconic birthplace of country music. Originally built as a tabernacle, the Ryman has hosted everyone from Elvis to Johnny Cash. It's one of those places that's soaked in history and you get the opportunity to stand on the same stages as music legends! I highly recommend going for a backstage tour if you want to see the rooms where country music magic was made. Tours here start at $25/person.

Broadway: Honky-Tonks & Haunted History

Ready to party? Head to Broadway, where Nashville's honky-tonks are always buzzing with live music and good times. The street is lined with bars, restaurants, and shops, so there's always something happening. Get to the honky-tonks early if you want a good seat and don't miss out on one of Boradway's many rooftop bars for great views and vibes!

When the sun goes down, it's ghost story time! We booked a late-night ghost and murder tour that took us through some of downtown Nashville's spookiest spots. Chilling and fun all at once! Most ghost tours in the area start at $20/person.

Awedaddy's Bar & Grill: Bushwackers for the Win

While strolling around Broadway, we made a quick pit stop at Awedaddy's Bar & Grill for their famous Bushwackers. Bushwackers could be describes as the love child of a boozy milkshake and a frozen cocktail. It's creamy, delicious, and packs a punch - perfect for cooling down after a day of exploring the city. These drinks are stronger than they look!

Celebrity Store Hopping

What's a trip to Nashville without a little shopping? And not just any shopping - celebrity shopping. We spent the afternoon popping into stores owned by many famous celebs:

  • Draper James: Reese Witherspoon’s store is the epitome of Southern charm. Think gingham dresses and adorable accessories.

  • Uncommon James: Kristin Cavallari’s minimalist, chic jewelry line. You’ll find trendy pieces that can spice up any outfit.

  • Kittenish: Jessie James Decker’s boutique is all about flirty, fashionable pieces perfect for a night out in Nashville.

  • High Class Hillbilly: Nikki Lane’s shop is a vintage lover’s dream, full of unique finds and Western flair.

These stores are a hit even if you're not planning to buy, sometimes it's fun just to browse!

Loveless Cafe: Southern Comfort at Its Finest

If you're craving real Southern food, Loveless Cafe is the answer. Their biscuits are the stuff of legend, and the fried chicken? Chef's KISS. After stuffing ourselves with all the good stuff, we wandered through the on-site shops. And if you're still hungry (which you probably won't be), you can swing by The Smokehouse next door for more BBQ. If you're looking for the perfect souvenir then take some Loveless Cafe biscuit mix home to give your friends and family a little taste of Nashville!

Grand Ole Opry: The Heart of Country Music

Last, but certainly not least, we wrapped up our trip with a visit to the Grand Ole Opry. Known as the home of country music, this venue has seen performances from all the biggest names in the industry. You can take a backstage tour to get a sneak peek behind the scenes, and if you're lucky, catch a live show while you're there for an unforgettable experience! Tours start at $30/person.

That's how we spent our whirlwind 48 hours in Nashville! Whether you're a music lover, a foodie, or just looking for a fun weekend away, Nashville has something for everyone. So, what are you waiting for? Grab your friends, book those tickets, and get ready for an unforgettable trip!
